When in 2007, Isao Hosoe, a Japanese engineer and designer specialized in studying workplaces and their impact on people and already involved in the Group activities, came to visit Loccioni headquarters, he was amused and suddenly cried out:
“You are a Play Factory. You are a good centre where to train to the new culture and diffuse it”.
Hearing those words, Loccioni people felt puzzled. Loccioni group is an engineering company; its core competence is measure; reliability is the essential requirement for clients ‘satisfaction.
They were wondering the meaning of those words and, then, Isao added:
“It is while playing intelligence is best expressed. For play I mean children and their curiosity, unexpected events and surprise. Being a Play Factory means being a cultural area where meetings among people and relations find the essential space for game, developing active knowledge , experiences and innovative discoveries”.
Starting from this peculiar on the spot reflection, a fruitful and creative collaboration named Play Factory, between the company and Isao Hosoe sprang out. In this years, Isao and his collaborators have given shape to Loccioni strong culture and have realized design projects and installation.
One of the most meaningful example is the behavioral installation called “Pro-gettare” that effectively represents innovation processes and implications within Loccioni Group.
“Planning is like throwing a stone in a pond. When the ball touches the water it creates circular waves which propagate towards a hypothetical future, but then, some of them come back to the person who has thrown the stone.” claimed Isao to explain his idea.
Pro-gettare is mainly training one’s mind to look at the future being completely free from predefined and specific goals; it is to propose one’s ideas in a possible fertile environment, being responsible for others learning in a creative and organized way.
The installation was then developed along with Loccioni engineers, joining playing with measuring, throwing a ball in the water and applying competencies and technologies for measure and computer vision.
Play Factory project has made Loccioni Group and its collaborators aware of the peculiarity and the strength of their organizational culture and has made it concrete.
It’s no coincidence that Loccioni Group ranked third on 2014 “Great Place to Work” survey, among small-medium sized companies in Italy. Being the only completely Italian company in this list has confirmed that the Group is on the path to build a work environment supporting people in developing their own personality and ambitions. That’s “Play Factory” philosophy: creating a place where hierarchy doesn’t exist and play is part of work activities, where it is possible to work with passion and happiness.
